About

Wendy Rummelhoff is a Wisconsin native. Many of her drawings and paintings are centered around singular items and food using a minimalist aesthetic. The objects she chooses are usually floating in white space to demand the walls on which they are hung. Oftentimes, incorporating reflective objects to give the composition exciting juxtaposition and light which enhances her realistic technique. The pieces can appear photographic at first glance but as the viewer engages with the work, the hand created artistry comes through.

Wendy also enjoys breaking away from such controlled imagery and technique by painting landscapes. While still focusing on color, they also rely on soft and hard edges blending one area into the next creating more relaxed and sometimes moody imagery.

Rummelhoff a WI based creator and entrepreneur, holds a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, where she specialized in painting. Over the years she has participated in gallery exhibitions, created public art pieces and worked on theater sets and props. Wendy has written and illustrated several children's books including Fox Pirates, ABC Alphabet Book and ABC Winter Alphabet Book. Currently, Wendy owns Dragonfly Art Gallery, representing professional and emerging artists and providing private art instruction. She is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, the Association of Wisconsin Artists and the Janesville Art League.

“While my drawings tend to lean towards bold colors and a minimalist aesthetic, my landscapes are painterly in technique. Often filling the canvas with a calming and sometimes moody environment using more muted soft tones."
